2.5a YouTube Community

Figure 1

Before going into the hard stuff. From Figure 1, try recognising as many YouTubers as you can ☺

No doubt the YouTube community is extremely big. What makes them equal is that they create videos. Videos that range from educational, political, rants, product reviews, gaming, animations and many more. When registering for a YouTube account, there are actually several accounts that you can create. There is the usual YouTube account which is known for YouTubers, director account which enables directors to personalize their own member channels, comedian accounts which enables them to include a schedule of performance dates on their personal member channels, musician accounts to promote their musical talents with schedules, guru accounts which have a special section for personal information in their personal channels, non-profit account for gathering donations, partners are for popular YouTubers and YouTube partnership, sponsors who pays to have their content featured on the home page of the platform. (Strickland, n.d.)

YouTube being a free platform for both its video creator and viewers, both definitely have their individual advantage. As part of being the creator of YouTube videos also known as YouTubers, they have the advantage of working anywhere and anytime they want. They are in control of every single thing unlike working for a company or owning a business. Everything is flexible but popular YouTubers with millions or even billions of subscribers normally has a schedule on when their videos will be uploaded as they post up videos very frequently to engage with their subscribers and also subscribers normally anticipate their videos.(Vlog Nation, n.d.)This is the reason why it's hard for popular YouTubers to slack.

Ever wonder how YouTubers are paid ? Hmmm..... back in the days, most of us don't even know YouTubers get paid but today, many people make YouTube videos solely for the fame and fortune. Popular YouTubers today share to their audience that they started off using YouTube just for the fun of it, to stay connected with their family, express their feelings or even just to document their life (home videos). Who knew it became their job? Most of them quit their jobs to concentrate on YouTube once they had a huge amount of audience watching their videos because who doesn't want to enjoy doing what they do and also work at home with high income? Moreover, parents who are YouTubers get to spend more time with their kids nevertheless working to feed the family.

In 2013, Draw My Life videos was going around YouTube among YouTubers. Watching multiple videos from different YouTubers, made me conclude about the points I wrote on the 3rd paragraph. Below are some videos about the journey of YouTubers on how they started using YouTube. From the videos above, you can actually see that even though its just about their life story, there were huge amount of views and their videos were also inspirational and fun. That is one of the way how YouTubers make their videos addictive.

On the other hand, YouTubers have a way of of speaking to the camera/audience which will catch the attention of viewers. This can be seen in the opening of their videos as they have their "own on-screen personalities addictive" as shown in the video below. (Beck, 2015)

3.6 Conclusion & Essay Structure

QUESTION 5 Explore a variety of media is used within the context of branding or transmedia storytelling . Does variety dilute the effectiveness of an advertising campaign or story? From my research this past few weeks, I decided to concentrate solely on trans-media storytelling and plan to concentrate on one franchise that uses it which is  Pokémon as I believe it has greatly succeeded by using this technique. Therefore, I will be including Henry Jenkins' theory of transmedia storytelling 101 to backup my research essay on  Pokémon as trans-media storytelling.  To be honest, I'm not sure whether I'm on the right track on this essay topic because I'm only concentrating on one specific franchise in trans-media storytelling and whether the points on my essay structure is repeating itself? Not much critical thinking? _________________________________________________________________________________ ESSAY STRUCTURE So does the variety of trans-media storytelling di...

3.5e Pokémon Fan Fiction

Fan art- Incorporation of My Little Pony and Eeveelution from Pokémon As "a vehicle of and for the national imagination transmitted through a currency of superpowers and lovable characters", Pokemon fans are very invested in their characters. (Allison, 2006) Therefore, with their love and interest for the characters, they create their own version of the story also known as fan-fiction . According to Henry Jenkins, fan fiction can be seen as an unauthorised expansion of these media franchises into new directions which reflect the reader's desire to "fill in the gaps" they have discovered in the commercially produced material. Fan fiction are normally being produced by dedicated individual that wish to continue the role for their favourite character in the initial story. Pleasing their own desire, they create their own storyline; it could be a continuation, a new storyline or even a crossover between characters from other television series. Basically, there...
