2.8 Final Decision & Essay Structure

My final decision is to compare and contrast YouTube Community with Business Companies. This is because I feel both of this community are widely ranged and there are more to it then you think like what is happening behind the scenes. Which community has more to gain using YouTube? You would have to wait for my essay to be written to find out.

With the help of the diagram above, I will briefly explain how I am going to structure/outline my essay.

As for the introduction, I will introduce the social media platform that I have chosen which is YouTube and why I chose it. Is YouTube that important? Will it survive if the communities involved do not commit and without different communities involved in this platform will this platform survive and grow up to today? Furthermore, I will mention about the communities involved on YouTube. I will be debating about their financials, video content and viewers. Which of the communities have more to gain?

For the first paragraph for the body, I will briefly explain about the two communities that I chose. Their background and use for YouTube. Is it necessary for them to use YouTube? Is it important? Will they gain or lose anything from using YouTube? Does the terms and condition on the platform affects them? As the years goes by, Youtube have been changing the way they structure their platform/page. Does the changes affect both the communities? Is it a disadvantage or an advantage?

Secondly, I will jump into their financial issues. I will be debating on their earnings and accomplishments. Is their income easy to gain? Where do their income come from? Is their earning from YouTube more than an average job? Is making videos worth their earnings? Did they accomplish anything because of YouTube? Is this one of their biggest accomplishment and did their accomplishment change anything? Is their accomplishment going to fade them from using YouTube? Will they be able to survive if YouTube suddenly shuts down?

Thirdly, I will be venturing into their video content specifically the type of videos created, purpose of it, quantity & quality of their videos and branding. What kind of videos are created to attract viewers? Do they have any strategy to think of a video content? How many people are involved for a video? Do they need to pay them in any form? Is it an advantage of disadvantage? Must the video always have a purpose? Is the video age appropriate? Is quantity or quality more important? How do they brand their videos? Is branding necessary?

Fourthly, I will be tackling about their viewers/audience. Targeting their audience is very important. So, how do they target their audience? Do they have any specific strategy to attract their attention? Is it possible to target all kind of audience? Will they be able to please every single one of their viewers? Will haters or trolls lower down their self esteem to create videos? Do they have the same audience? Does YouTubers have a bigger audience than marketers? Do they engage with their viewers through YouTube or other social media? How do they engage with them and is it important? When is the right time to do so?

In my conclusion, I will analyse my main point with evidence to close my discussion and finally come to a conclusion on which community gain more from using YouTube. Finally, I will implicate on my evaluation on the debate between the two communities.

3.6 Conclusion & Essay Structure

QUESTION 5 Explore a variety of media is used within the context of branding or transmedia storytelling . Does variety dilute the effectiveness of an advertising campaign or story? From my research this past few weeks, I decided to concentrate solely on trans-media storytelling and plan to concentrate on one franchise that uses it which is  Pokémon as I believe it has greatly succeeded by using this technique. Therefore, I will be including Henry Jenkins' theory of transmedia storytelling 101 to backup my research essay on  Pokémon as trans-media storytelling.  To be honest, I'm not sure whether I'm on the right track on this essay topic because I'm only concentrating on one specific franchise in trans-media storytelling and whether the points on my essay structure is repeating itself? Not much critical thinking? _________________________________________________________________________________ ESSAY STRUCTURE So does the variety of trans-media storytelling di...

3.5e Pokémon Fan Fiction

Fan art- Incorporation of My Little Pony and Eeveelution from Pokémon As "a vehicle of and for the national imagination transmitted through a currency of superpowers and lovable characters", Pokemon fans are very invested in their characters. (Allison, 2006) Therefore, with their love and interest for the characters, they create their own version of the story also known as fan-fiction . According to Henry Jenkins, fan fiction can be seen as an unauthorised expansion of these media franchises into new directions which reflect the reader's desire to "fill in the gaps" they have discovered in the commercially produced material. Fan fiction are normally being produced by dedicated individual that wish to continue the role for their favourite character in the initial story. Pleasing their own desire, they create their own storyline; it could be a continuation, a new storyline or even a crossover between characters from other television series. Basically, there...
